“ya know… that’s funny.”

At the Carnegie Deli in NYC, and at Nate and Al’s in LA, a group of well known but mostly older comics have breakfast together almost every day. Jokes and stories get told, but no matter how funny, no one laughs. However, out of respect and friendship, if someone says something that is fall off your chair, piss in your pants, not of this world, hilarious; one person will lean toward him and say in a deadpan voice, “Ya know… that’s funny.” Jason’s comedy is smart, funny and his timing is very good. I’m confident that one day at the Carnegie or at Nate’s someone is going to lean across the table and say to him in a deadpan voice… ”Ya know…that was funny.”

A FRESH NEW TAKE ON MIDDLE-AGE-OLD PROBLEMS

Jason Scholder is one of the funniest, most crowd pleasing comics I’ve seen in a very long time. With just a few years in the biz, he has a set full of excellent material that will impress any in-the-know listener — especially because he revisits topics many can relate to — relationships, family, being middle-aged — but has a take on it that’s entirely fresh and new! Ever since I saw his show, I’ve been quoting him to friends, particularly the joke about what it really means to keep Kosher — “Never eating anything that might bring joy into your life.” Also, he has a very clear, very likable, very “root-for-able” persona. All in all, wow!  I envy any audience that gets to hear and see The Midlife Comic doing his thing — but then, being middle-aged myself, I envy anyone who has someplace to go on a Saturday night!”
